Team Building

Hi Everyone,

My name is Nicola Fitzgerald and I have taken over from Anna Castagna as the new ESOL teacher. During my first week with my classes we completed a variety of team building activities.

We were learning to work together as a team by; encouraging, including, participating, listening, co-operating and communicating with each other.  Each day we would reflect on how we went as a class. Afterwards, we wrote some great stories about our week. This was a fantastic week, we all had a lot of fun as we got to know each other! Check out the photos below.

Goodbye Summer - Hello Autumn

In English class we are learning about the seasons.
We have been discussing the season of Autumn, what is looks like, feels like and smells like.

We walked around the school looking for evidence of Autumn so we can write Autumn Poems.
We had lots of fun with the crunchy autumn leaves!
We will post our Autumn poems soon....

End of the year - Christmas fun!

We celebrated a year of hard work with some fun group activities.
We had a great wheels day with our scooters, bikes and roller blades.

We learnt to play a great kiwi backyard game called 'Go home - Stay home!'

We enjoyed making our own ice-creams, Christmas decorations and finally a delicious batch of gingerbread men!

Have a look at some of the photos...

Auckland Museum

We had a great day at Auckland Museum - there was so much to look at we needed more time!
We focused mainly on learning about Maori traditions and history, in particular the natural materials the Maori people used then (and still use now).  Next Friday we will follow up by making our own Pounamu Pendants using clay.

Painting rocks and popping corn

Last Friday we painted some rocks to go around our pear tree in the school garden.
We discussed a wide range of vocabulary that we would use in the garden and we choose to paint some of these words using Chinese characters on our rocks.
After painting we decided to pop some popcorn for a well deserved snack!
