End of the year - Christmas fun!

We celebrated a year of hard work with some fun group activities.
We had a great wheels day with our scooters, bikes and roller blades.

We learnt to play a great kiwi backyard game called 'Go home - Stay home!'

We enjoyed making our own ice-creams, Christmas decorations and finally a delicious batch of gingerbread men!

Have a look at some of the photos...

Auckland Museum

We had a great day at Auckland Museum - there was so much to look at we needed more time!
We focused mainly on learning about Maori traditions and history, in particular the natural materials the Maori people used then (and still use now).  Next Friday we will follow up by making our own Pounamu Pendants using clay.

Painting rocks and popping corn

Last Friday we painted some rocks to go around our pear tree in the school garden.
We discussed a wide range of vocabulary that we would use in the garden and we choose to paint some of these words using Chinese characters on our rocks.
After painting we decided to pop some popcorn for a well deserved snack!

Coastal walk and beach hunt

We had a beautiful day at Takapuna beach last Friday. We walked along the rocks from Milford which was great fun - especially as the tide was high!
We completed a scavenger hunt on the beach and of course had some fun on the new playground.

Gardening Day

Last Friday we spend the day getting our hands and feet dirty!
We learnt all about our school garden, different types of fruits, vegetables, herbs and trees.
We learnt the different parts of a plant and what they need to grow.
We planted our own flowers and herbs to take home and we planted a pear tree at school!
We finished off the day with a kiwi tiptop ice cream! - yum
